I want to send you a short message for this joyful time, the most important of the Christian feast, to invite you to experience the mystery of the death, passion and resurrection of the Lord at the deepest level.
We are called to live this mystery, from the bottom of our hearts, in our own lives. The Paschal mystery of Christ that the liturgy offers us is not only a mystery to be lived at the intellectual level: it is a mystery that must be lived in our lives. A few Sundays ago, the gospel of the resurrection of Lazarus reminded us that the Lord today is for us resurrection and life, not for yesterday, not for tomorrow but for today.
Fr. Rui Carlos Lopes, OP
Today we are called to live the paschal mystery; but this mystery always comes in three stages: passion, death and resurrection.
I would like to share this thought with you: what in our lives brings us close to the passion and death of the Lord? Suffering, a state of sin that we cannot seem to escape, our personal history… what?
That is what we must offer to the Lord to open ourselves to the resurrection and the light of the new life that he offers us on the morning of the resurrection.
We are called, dear brothers and sisters, to experience the passion with him, in order to reach resurrection with him, that we may be true Dominican witnesses to this new life in the risen Christ.
I wish you all a holy Easter, and I thank you for the many signs of communion and prayer that unite us all.
From your brother, close to you all and in profound mutual communion. Happy Easter!
