A MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE CLERGY AND THE CHURCH, WITH REGARD TO RECENT CASES OF VIOLENCE AGAINST PRIESTS IN THE PHILIPPINES
We, the Young Thomasian Professionals (YTP) Lay Dominican group (Santísimo Rosario Parish, University of Santo Tomás, Manila), join the Diocese of Cabanatuan and the entire Catholic Church in the Philippines in mourning and condemning the recent murder of Rev. Fr. Richmond Nilo, and of the other priests slain before him. We lament and condemn all senseless acts of violence against servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We heartily and willingly join the Dominican Family, as well as our bishops, priests, and the whole Church, in our prayerful, united, and strong demand for justice, and for an immediate end to the culture of violence and death that seems to reign over our country.
We stand by our priests who have offered and who continue to offer nothing less than their entire lives to tend the flock which Jesus Christ won with His precious blood (cf. Acts 20:28).
We pray that our people may not be desensitized by the daily violence, and may we all be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so that we may act, united as one Church of Jesus Christ, according to the Gospel of Peace.
"Thou shalt not kill." (Exodus 20:13).
Mary, Mother of Priests, pray for us! Our holy father, Saint Dominic, pray for us! Saint Catherine of Siena, pray for us! Saint Thomas Aquinas, pray for us! Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us!
